Community Relations

Our organization strives to be a responsible corporate citizen. We believe that by actively participating in causes that positively impact the community within which we live, we can make a real difference.

In 2007, the group established the Mirchandani Foundation, a charitable trust named after the founder of the small trading company that became the organization we know today.

With an initial endowment of Rs. 10 million and administered by a board of eminent independent trustees, the aim of the foundation is to provide assistance in the areas of education, and is an important part of our long term commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.

Deccan Lanka pledges tong term support to Sunera Foundation May 2008 (Colombo):

Sri Lanka's leading domestic airline Deccan Aviation pledged long term support to the Sunera Foundation as part of its ongoing CSR porgramme. Starting in May 2008, Deccan will pledge 3 US Dollars for each passenger that fills in and returns a Customer Feedback Survey to the company. When each passenger boards a Deccan helicopter or aircraft, they will be given a survey to fill out on the level of satisfaction enjoyed on their flight and passengers are informed of the donation for every completed survey.

In addition to the financial support for a worthy cause, the completion of Customer Surveys will also help improve our service to our high profile clients.

The Sunera Foundation is a registered charity, which, for the last 8 years has been working towards the social integration of disabled people in Sri Lanka, using the performing arts.  Music, dance, drama and theatre have proved to be an effective medium to highlight the person's ability, rather than focussing on their disability. Visit www.sunerafoundation.org for more info on the Sunera Foundation.

Deccan Aviation Lanka is the country’s only airline offering both helicopters and aircraft. More recently the company has commenced twice weekly international flights to the Maldives, in addition to cargo and passenger flights throughout Sri Lanka. The company marks 4 years of operations in Sri Lanka in July 2008 and is a joint venture with one of the worlds largest airlines. Visit www.simplifly.com for a tour of Deccan Aviation Lanka.
